Learn to Knit Magic Loop Socks

Next Class: Saturdays, February 7th, 21st, & 28th, 2026 9 - 11AM
Course Overview
Always wanted to make a pair of socks? Maybe you tried once and it didn’t go well? Maybe it looks too complicated? This is your chance to get past that fear and learn how to make socks! Socks are a fun, portable, functional item beloved by many knitters. Learning to make socks involves a number of steps, so we’ve broken the class into 3 2-hour sessions scheduled over 3 Saturdays. This gives you lots of time to work on your socks and ask questions as you go. This class meets in-person at the shop.
Skills Taught
In this class we will learn the steps to create socks, including: casting on with magic loop; working in the round; turning the heel; working the sock gusset; working the foot of the sock; and finally finishing the toe.
In the class, we will knit our socks using the “magic loop” method working from the top down to the toe. We will also explain other methods of sock construction including working the sock from the toe up, and using different needle types.

You should be able to cast-on, knit, purl, pick up stitches, decrease, and bind off without assistance.
