Cardo Christmas Stocking

This stocking is knit from the cuff to the toe with an afterthought heel. The cuff is doubled to make it extra sturdy, and waste yarn is used for the provisional cast-on and placement of the heel.

Designer Meredith Collins's choice of Cardo highlights its many virtues as a fundamental yarn: its smooth texture, traditional spin, and resilient hand all hark back to beloved heirloom projects.

Note: when knitting stripes: To avoid a jog between the colors, knit one round with the new color. Then, when starting the second round, slip the first stitch and proceed knitting the rest of the stripe.
