Snowdrops - tiny, white flowers that robustly peep their way up through the lawn (and the occasional snow cover) in mid-February - always bring a smile to our faces and the knowledge that Spring is on its way. These were the inspiration for the use of the "Sprig" mosaic pattern, which echoes the snowdrop's two linear leaves and petal cluster. The mosaic pattern is soft and springy in our fingering-weight Alegria. This cowl begins with a garter tab cast-on and is worked in rows of stockinette and slipped-stitch pattern with increases at each end of the row and on each side of the center stitch. Once it has reached the correct neck circumference, the piece is joined in the round and worked down to the lower edge. Designer Debra Gerhard of Spruce Lane Designs Finished Size 19” neck edge circumference, 48” lower edge circumference, 12” from neck to lower edge at shortest point, and 26” from neck to lower edge at deepest point Yarn Shown in Alegria, 1 skein each of A2305 Celadon (A) and A2637 Wild Orchid (B) Notions Stitch markers (one in a different color for start of round) Tapestry needle Gauge 24 sts and 34 rows/rnds = 4”/10cm in St st, after blocking.
